Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island called West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's an island that's west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city wasn't. Brugel lived in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but a growth spurt resulted in her outgrowing her dance partner. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in the school's production. She auditioned and was cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Through the years since Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the part of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel, the only Canadian in the season 1 actors of the series and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
